PSB UK Ltd based in Halifax were contracted by Courier House Ltd to design, supply, install & commission the systems and has recently handed over this prestigious project to Courier House Ltd incorporating two Above Ground Ventilation Systems servicing 14 Fire Zones within the one block.
The above ground / corridor smoke control systems are designed to provide mechanical ventilation, from the stairwell and associated lobbies, in accordance with the requirements of The Approved Document B2 and BS9991.
The Staircore is protected from smoke contamination by the two-mechanical smoke control systems located in the basement of the building. Make up air to the systems is via a window actuator & automatic opening ventilator (AOV) mounted at the head of the 3 Staircores.
The mechanical smoke control systems are provided with a single Control Panel containing the computerised control logic for the control of both systems to the agreed design, CFD & cause and effect with signals back from the fire alarm panel.
Due to the nature of the design of the system we were requested by the local Building Control Officer to carry out a smoke test to confirm smoke movement within the Fire Zones.
