The times they are a’changin’
On the 13th October several members of the Witt UK team were delighted to attend the Calderdale Business Awards held at The Venue Bowers Mill, near Halifax. One of the members, Martin Booth, Managing Director of the Witt UK Group had a very special evening as he celebrated his 70th birthday, his retirement from executive duties (although he will still act in a non-executive director capacity) and receiving the Calderdale Business Award for Lifetime Achievement.
Martin has been instrumental in the development, growth and success of the Witt UK Group during his 18 year tenure. He has not only served the business with distinction and dedication but also the local community, championing the development of apprenticeship programmes within manufacturing businesses. He serves as the chairman of the Calderdale and Kirklees Manufacturing Alliance encouraging local businesses to support and interact with each other.
It is therefore not surprising that Sir Roger Marsh describes him as “embodying the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of Calderdale”. Martin has received many accolades from peers and associates within the local business community and, as is typical for Martin, he has received these comments with a simple but powerful, “I feel very humbled – all I have tried to do is the right thing!”
All his colleagues at the Witt UK Group wish Martin a very happy and fulfilling retirement even though we suspect he will still be loitering around the factory floor on occasion trying to improve something!
