Leeds University – NEXUS – Above Ground Smoke Ventilation Systems

PSB UK Ltd were contracted by Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick to design, supply, install & commission two Above Ground Ventilation Systems servicing respective Fire Zones.

The above ground / corridor smoke control systems are designed to provide mechanical ventilation, from the stairwells and associated lobbies, in accordance with the requirements of The Approved Document B2 and BS9991.

The Staircores are protected from smoke contamination by the two-mechanical smoke control systems located on the Plant Roof with make-up air to the systems is via an Automatic Opening Ventilator (AOV) mounted at the head of the two Staircores.

The mechanical smoke control systems are provided with a single Control Panel containing the computerised control logic for the control of both systems to the agreed design, CFD & Cause and Effect with signals back from the fire alarm panel.
