Princess Alexandra Care Home, Stanmore – Above Ground Smoke Ventilation System
This new development for Jewish Care includes a 64-bedroom dementia care nursing home divided into 4 clusters of 16 rooms, 16 independent living suites, 48 independent living 1 and 2-bedroom flats, shared dining and social facilities and a day centre.
Harvey Group working alongside McLaughlin on Phase 1 of this project, when residents are comfortable in their new premises Phase 2 will commence, and the current home will be demolished., allowing works for the independent living and communal facilities to commence.
PSB UK Ltd recently handed over this prestigious project to Harvey Group for the Above Ground Ventilation System.
The Above Ground & Lobby Smoke Control System has been designed to provide mechanical ventilation, from the stairwell and associated lobbies, in accordance with the requirements of The Approved Document B2 and BS9991.
The core is protected from smoke contamination by a mechanical lobby smoke control system with the extract fan set mounted within a roof top plant area. Make up air to this system is via an automatic opening ventilator (AOV) mounted on top of the Staircore at roof level. The mechanical system serves each storey level.
Also provided are two separate systems for Staircores independent of the Mechanical System.
